Walkers & Talkers

A School Readiness program

How can I help my child succeed?

Whether or not children succeed in school is in part related to events and experiences that occur prior to their entering kindergarten. For this reason, The Annie Casey Foundation has granted HART funding in order to work in collaboration with Making Connections Hartford, in a new program called “Walkers & Talkers,” a School Readiness Program. This beneficial program is designed to enhance school readiness awareness in Frog Hollow’s parents.

“Good early education can help low-income parents open the doors of opportunity to their children.”

WALKERS & TALKERS

 A School Readiness Program

Did you know? “Everything infants and toddlers learn impacts their readiness for school.”  Or that “All the experiences a young child has, whether positive or negative, affect brain development and ultimately, a child’s ability to understand language, solve problems, and get along with others?  Come and see other fun and interesting facts!

The program will also include:

·        One-on-one fun chats about your child

·        Easy & Fun things you can do that will improve your child’s behavior and reading

·        A parent group where you can share your opinions and experiences with others

·        Incentives/Rewards for completion of program

The care you provide your child shapes the person he/she will become.”

Why Should I Get Involved?

Besides wanting the best for your child, you can help increase your child’s school readiness.

“How well children read eventually affects how they learn and ultimately influences their chances for school success.”

Walkers & Talkers Program will be free of charge. Child care and Food will be provided.
